Black Friday Build giveaway: terms
1. Who's running it
Better Digital Limited, Gisborne, New Zealand. Questions to marketing@betterdigital.co.nz.
2. What it is
A free-entry competition. One Shopify store wins a complete Black Friday campaign build from Better Digital, at no charge. Entry is free, no purchase is needed, and the winner is chosen on the criteria in section 6, not drawn at random.
3. Who can enter
You can enter if all of these are true:
- You own or run a Shopify store that is trading now.
- The store sells to customers in New Zealand or Australia.
- You are 18 or over.
- You are not a Better Digital employee or contractor, or a member of their immediate family.
- You are not currently a Better Digital client on an active engagement.
One entry per store. If a store enters more than once, we count the first one.
4. How to enter
Fill in the form at betterdigital.co.nz/apply (which takes you to the Apply to Win a Black Friday Build page) between 12:30pm Tuesday 22 September 2026 and 5:00pm Friday 25 September 2026, New Zealand time. Entries after 5:00pm on the Friday are not considered. The form asks for your store address, your name and contact details, roughly how many orders a month the store does, and one written answer about your store and why we should pick it.
5. What the winner gets
The Black Friday Build, planned, built and managed by Better Digital for the winning store, delivered in stages from late September through to the end of November 2026. It has eight parts:
- Your Black Friday Plan: your offer economics and priorities, on your numbers, walked through on a call.
- Message testing: four rounds of fifteen hooks each, sixty in all, written and tested in your ad account, the winner kept.
- VIP pass set-up: the prepaid credit product, tiers and the flow that issues it.
- Your offer, built: products, pricing and incentives set up in Shopify.
- Your offer page.
- The five-email follow-up.
- The card in the box: the next-purchase incentive, set up in Shopify (the credit, the tag, the flow that issues it, the January balance email). Designing, printing and packing the physical card is yours.
- Campaign management: we review and adjust each stage as it goes live, including over the weekend.
The eight parts are individually valued at a total of $17,000 + GST (each has its own standalone price on our menu). As a single project Better Digital sells them for $9,600 + GST. The winner pays nothing for the work.
What's not included, so nobody is surprised: advertising spend is yours. The message test (part 2) runs in your ad account on your budget; we recommend a minimum of $600, and you can put more behind it if you want to learn more from the test. The campaign itself runs on whatever budget you choose. Also not included: the cost of any products, gifts or credit you offer your customers, third-party app subscriptions, and anything outside the eight parts above. There is no cash alternative and the prize can't be transferred to another store or person.
No guarantee of results. We'll build the campaign properly and manage it with you. What it produces depends on your products, your prices, your customers and your market, and we don't promise any particular outcome, in revenue, orders, or anything else.
6. How the winner is chosen
Better Digital picks the winner. We choose the store where we think a Black Friday campaign is most likely to produce a clear, measurable result. That takes into account the store's order volume, how ready it is to run a campaign before 27 November, and what you tell us in your written answer. This is a judgement, it isn't a random draw, and our decision is final. We don't enter into correspondence about why a store wasn't picked.
7. When and how the winner is told
Everyone who enters gets a confirmation email straight away saying what happens next. On Monday 28 September we review the entries. On Tuesday 29 September 2026, around midday New Zealand time, we phone the winner, and the same day we email everyone who entered and name the winning store publicly. The winner has 48 hours to accept. If they don't, or can't meet the conditions in section 8, we pick another store from the entries.
8. Conditions of the prize
Two, and both matter because the reason we're doing this is to have one Black Friday campaign we can show properly.
- Keep the tracking connected through to 31 January 2027. The Build includes measurement. The winner agrees not to remove or disconnect it before then, and to give Better Digital the access it needs to read the results.
- Let us write up what happened, and tell us what you thought. After the weekend, Better Digital will write a short case study of the campaign. It shows changes as percentages (for example, conversion rate up X%, repeat orders up Y%), never your revenue or order counts in dollars, and it names the store. You see the write-up before it's published, and nothing goes out with a dollar figure in it unless you've agreed to that in writing. You also agree to give a short, honest review of working with us, in your own words, which we can quote in the case study and in our marketing, and to a short video or written testimonial if you're comfortable doing one.
The winner also agrees to supply the numbers and access the work needs when asked, to be available for the planning call and the stage check-ins, and to make decisions on their side in time for the build to be live before 27 November. If the winner can't meet these, Better Digital may withdraw the prize and offer it to another entrant.
9. Your information
By entering, you agree to receive communications from Better Digital by email and WhatsApp, including updates about the competition, who won, and our work. You can unsubscribe at any time. We don't sell your information or pass it to anyone else. Handled under the Privacy Act 2020.
10. The boring but necessary bit
Better Digital can change these terms or cancel the competition if something outside our control makes it impossible to run as described; if that happens we'll say so on this page and email everyone who's entered. These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Prices are in New Zealand dollars and exclude GST. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
